Transportation Advice
Taxis and TukTuks are available everywhere, however, there are 3 apps that you should download prior to coming to thailand. The first and one i recommend the most is "inDrive" it's what the locals use, and the cheapest.
"Grab" and "Bolt" are the "Ubers of Thailand" and what the tourists use. These are usually still cheaper than tuktuks, BUT DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GET ATLEAST ONE WHILST YOU'RE THERE! You won't regret it!!
Accommodation
The wedding is in north Phuket. You're welcome to book wherever you want, however if you're in south Phuket, please make sure you have transport booked in for the day so you're on time. We do not expect anyone to stay at The Pavilions as it is expensive. You can and will find accommodation for as little as $50 a night if you book in advance.
My advice is to book on Booking.com, as you can look around and book places you like, for certain dates, without having to pay for it. You have free cancellation on most places on Booking.com (please check before booking) up until a week or so before your check in date. This way, if you see any specials in the mean time, you can change accommodation. There's also many Airbnb's and villas around, if that's more suited to you.
Tours
We knew we should wait to book in tours as they are much cheaper to book over there than here. We didn't listen. We booked through "Get Your Guide" and "BookMe". Now whilst I'm happy that it was just all planned out for our trip the first time, I knew that we had spent about 5x more than we could have, if we waited.
Now that we've done it, we won't do it again, except for the big group tour we might book in with everyone that makes it over, so we can get everyone on the same tour.
I advise for everyone to look around at what they want to see whilst in Phuket, and if it's a specific tour you really want, book it in. I personally would use the apps I've mentioned above, but feel free to search around. If you just want to go see the main attractions, wait until you get there. You have so many options and ways to go and see everything. You can get long tail private tours for about $50 instead of paying $300 like we did.
There are Facebook groups for Phuket and Thailand that will have great advice for everything you're after. Tour guides who will pick you up from the airport, plan your entire trip and organize it all for you. These ppl are amazing!!
